A software-limit fault after homing can indicate that the referenced coordinate system and configured limits do not agree. Widening the limits immediately can remove useful protection. Compare physical travel, home offset, units, and intended limit behavior before changing the allowed range.

What is happening?
Software travel limits operate in a configured position system under platform-specific enabling conditions. A wrong scale or reference offset can make a physically ordinary position appear outside the allowed range. Software limits also do not automatically replace independent protective measures required by the machine design.
Check these five things

Record the axis reference status, current position, limit values, and exact fault.

Compare units and scaling with the approved mechanical travel definition.

Verify the home method and offset against the intended machine zero.

Review the documented conditions under which limit checking is meaningful and enabled.

Worked example
A model's permissible travel is defined relative to machine zero, but a copied home offset shifts the reported position. A limit trips even though the mechanism has not changed. Moving the limit to follow the bad offset would conceal the coordinate mismatch.
