A shield connection needs the intended high-frequency path and installation geometry. Simply finding continuity to earth does not prove effective shielding. Review the equipment EMC instructions before changing shield terminations.

What is happening?
Protective bonding and functional shielding serve different purposes. Shield effectiveness depends on routing, termination, bonding, and the complete installation. One-end versus both-end rules cannot be generalized to every signal and environment.
Check these five things

Worked example
A teaching installation uses a long thin shield pigtail where the equipment specifies a broad termination. A continuity check passes, yet high-frequency interference remains. The geometry can matter even though a low-frequency resistance measurement looks acceptable.
