Hydrostatic level measurement depends on liquid density. A new product can change indicated level even when the physical height is unchanged. Check the configured density and vessel pressure reference before adjusting zero.

What is happening?
For a simple static liquid column, pressure relates to density, gravity, and height. Closed-vessel pressure and installation offsets require additional treatment. A pressure-to-level conversion must use the actual measurement model.
Check these five things

Identify open or closed vessel measurement arrangement.

Record density assumptions and product conditions.

Check pressure reference and installation offsets.

Compare with an appropriate independent level reference.

Validate the approved conversion across intended products.
Worked example
In a simplified model, a liquid with density 800 kg per cubic meter produces 80 percent of the hydrostatic pressure of a 1000 kg per cubic meter liquid at the same height. A conversion still assuming 1000 would understate height by 20 percent.

The mistake to avoid
A zero adjustment can align one level while leaving the slope wrong. Density mismatch is not generally corrected by an offset alone.

Verify multiple levels for each approved product or compensation method. Record density source, temperature assumptions, and reference conditions with the calibration.
