An alarm absent from one display may still be active. Check shelving, filtering, and display scope before declaring the condition cleared.

What is happening?
Alarm state and presentation state are separate. Acknowledgment, shelving, disablement, and filtering have different meanings and should be visible through the approved alarm-management workflow.
Check these five things

Identify the alarm source and current condition.

Review display filters and selected equipment scope.

Check shelving state and its expiry.

Distinguish acknowledgment from return to normal.

Review authorized changes and alarm history.
Worked example
In a teaching alarm console, a high-temperature alarm is acknowledged and temporarily shelved. It disappears from the main active list while the simulated process condition remains high. A separate shelved-alarm view explains the missing display entry.

How to verify the fix
Test visibility, expiry, history, and return-to-normal behavior in a training environment. Confirm operators can identify managed alarms.
