Temperature-dependent hydraulic speed can reflect changing viscosity, leakage, or control behavior. Compare conditions before changing a valve adjustment.

What is happening?
Warmer fluid generally has lower viscosity within its intended range. That can reduce some flow losses while increasing leakage through clearances. The final speed change depends on the circuit, component condition, and fluid specification.
Check these five things

Record fluid grade and the specified operating range.

Trend temperature together with cycle time and pressure.

Worked example
A teaching actuator receives the same command cold and warm, but its warm loaded stroke takes longer. Temperature alone does not identify the failed component. Comparing delivered flow and documented leakage evidence helps distinguish an internal loss from a command change.
