An optical sensor that becomes unstable only when a neighboring sensor operates may be receiving the wrong emitter's light. Compare the pair as an installed optical system. A wiring change is unlikely to fix interference between light paths.

What is happening?
OMRON describes mutual interference as instability caused by light from adjacent sensors. Supported prevention methods depend on the sensing model and geometry. Built-in protection has operating limits; it should not be assumed effective for every spacing and arrangement.
Check these five things

Record which sensor indications change together and the physical arrangement of emitters and receivers.

Review the manufacturer's spacing and interference-prevention guidance for the exact models.

Use an approved isolated test to determine whether the neighboring emitter affects the receiver.

Evaluate supported mounting, separation, or model-specific prevention options rather than improvised optical modifications.

Repeat the test with all nearby sensors operating and representative products in place.
Worked example
Two through-beam pairs pass their individual bench tests. Once installed side by side, one receiver can see light from the other emitter around a product. The individual test did not reproduce the shared optical environment.
