A replacement motor with the same power rating is not automatically an equivalent drive load. Rated voltage, current, frequency, speed, connection, and application suitability all matter. Compare the motor, drive, and approved design before reusing the old parameter set.

What is happening?
Drive motor-model settings describe the connected motor; they are not arbitrary tuning numbers. A mismatch can affect control and protection. Multiple voltage or connection markings on a nameplate must be interpreted using the motor's own diagram and the actual drive output rating, not by copying a familiar terminal arrangement.
Check these five things

Photograph and transcribe the replacement and original motor nameplates, including all voltage and connection combinations.

Check the drive's output rating and the approved electrical design with qualified personnel.

Verify the motor terminal arrangement against its manufacturer diagram under the required isolation procedure.

Compare rated current, frequency, speed, thermal protection, and control-mode requirements with the commissioned settings.

Follow the manufacturer's motor-identification or commissioning procedure where required, accounting for whether it can cause motion.
Worked example
Two motors may both be labeled with the same kilowatt rating while having different rated currents and connection requirements. Copying only the power entry into the drive leaves important differences unresolved. A documented comparison is more useful than assuming the old settings are close enough.

The mistake to avoid
Do not infer star or delta connections from a single voltage number. Read the complete nameplate, terminal diagram, and approved supply arrangement.
How to verify the fix
Save the verified parameter set and commissioning results, including direction, feedback, loading, and applicable protective checks.
